But are these reviews and assessments accurate? We thought we’d dig a little deeper and do our own hands-on review of Hatchful’s Logo Maker and Shopify’s Logo Maker.

Well, as it turns out, Hatchful no longer exists - Hatchful is in the “deadpool”, as the saying goes - and these recommendations are out of date.

Shopify’s logo maker gives you PNG raster image files - but that’s it. These files are not the correct, industry-standard file type for a logo (such as vector files - like SVG, PDF or EPS files).

No. After you create a logo on Shopify’s Logo Maker, Shopify does not give you access to any other design tools, no matching social media design templates, no business cards, no brand kit. Shopify can of course help you make an online store if you want to launch an ecommerce business - but the store doesn’t automatically include the logo or match the brand. This is very different to platforms like Design.com or BrandCrowd, which (after you make a logo) offer a full brand kit, a broad set of design tools, hundreds of thousands of matching designs and a website that will include your logo and brand.

Shopify have a slick landing page for their Logo Maker, but that’s where the good stuff ends. It appears to us that Shopify are either using their Logo Maker as an MVP, a vapor test or a simple lead gen tool (without any regard for the logo generator product experience itself).

In summary, we do not recommend Shopify’s Logo Maker (it’s so bad that you shouldn’t waste your time) and Hatchful does not even exist anymore (the domain just redirects to Shopify’s Logo Maker).
