Intro
The Ranktracker API is officially live.
Every Ranktracker plan now includes API access, giving customers a direct way to connect Ranktracker with their own dashboards, reporting platforms, internal systems and SEO workflows.
You no longer need a separate API subscription or an enterprise-only account to start building. Whether you are using Launch, Growth, Scale or Authority, you can create an API key and work programmatically with the data available within your Ranktracker account.
The API is built around the same keyword, data-row and tracking allowances included with your plan. Higher plans provide larger allowances, but the ability to access the API is available to everyone.

Why We Built the Ranktracker API
SEO teams increasingly need their search data outside a single platform.
Agencies want ranking data inside client portals. In-house teams want to combine rankings with analytics, leads and revenue. Developers want to automate repetitive project management tasks. Larger organisations want to store SEO data in their own warehouses and business intelligence systems.
The All-in-One Platform for Effective SEO
Behind every successful business is a strong SEO campaign. But with countless optimization tools and techniques out there to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start. Well, fear no more, cause I've got just the thing to help. Presenting the Ranktracker all-in-one platform for effective SEO

Manual exports can work occasionally, but they become inefficient when reports must be refreshed every day across hundreds of domains or thousands of keywords.
The Ranktracker API solves this by allowing your systems to communicate directly with Ranktracker.
You can now retrieve ranking data, manage tracked projects, organise keywords and build reporting workflows without manually repeating the same actions inside the dashboard.
API Access Is Included With Every Ranktracker Plan
API access is not restricted to our largest plan.
It is included with:
- Launch
- Growth
- Scale
- Authority
Your API activity operates within the keyword, data-row, competitor and other allowances attached to your subscription.
For example, if you add keywords through the API, those keywords count towards the same account allowances as keywords added through the Ranktracker interface. You can check your current usage and remaining capacity programmatically before submitting a large import.
This gives every customer the opportunity to experiment with automation, regardless of company size or technical resources.

Smaller businesses can connect Ranktracker to a simple internal dashboard. Agencies can automate client onboarding and reporting. Larger teams can build complete data pipelines around their Ranktracker account.
Full Top 100 Ranking Data
Ranktracker is built around complete Top 100 tracking.
Rather than stopping at the first page of Google, Ranktracker tracks all ten pages of organic results. This helps you identify keywords that are beginning to gain visibility before they reach page one.
Through the API, you can retrieve the latest ranking history attached to a tracked keyword, including information such as:
- Current organic position
- Absolute SERP position
- Ranking URL
- Daily ranking movement
- Weekly ranking movement
- Monthly ranking movement
- Search volume
- Estimated traffic
- Cost per click
- Competition
- Keyword difficulty
Every tracked keyword can also be connected to its configured search engine, location, language and device. s allows teams to build much more detailed reports than a simple list of keyword positions.
Track Across More Than 107,000 Locations
Ranktracker supports more than 107,000 trackable locations, along with desktop and mobile tracking and broad language coverage. s makes the API suitable for:
- Local SEO campaigns
- National search monitoring
- International SEO
- Multilingual websites
- Franchise and multi-location businesses
- Agencies managing clients in different markets
A keyword can be tracked across multiple combinations of location, language and device.
For example, an agency could track the same keyword on desktop and mobile across London, Manchester and Birmingham. Each combination is stored as a separate tracking row, giving the agency a more accurate view of how search performance differs by market.
What You Can Do With the Ranktracker API
The API provides access to the primary resources used in a Ranktracker account.
Manage domains
You can create, retrieve, update and remove tracked domains programmatically.
This makes it possible to connect Ranktracker to your customer onboarding process. When a client is added to your internal system, their domain can also be created automatically inside Ranktracker.
Domain-level endpoints also provide ranking history and share-of-voice data over a selected period. History and share-of-voice requests can cover periods of up to 365 days and can be filtered by desktop, mobile or all devices. Manage competitors
Add, retrieve, update or remove the competitors associated with each tracked domain.
This can be used to automatically configure competitor monitoring for new projects or synchronise client settings between Ranktracker and another platform.
Add and manage keywords
Create tracked keywords for a domain and specify their search engine, location, language, device and tracking frequency.
The API supports bulk creation using a combination of keyword phrases and search-engine configurations. Instead of sending hundreds of individual requests, you can submit multiple words and tracking configurations together. sting keywords can also be paused, resumed or removed programmatically.
Retrieve ranking history
Pull the latest ranking results for every keyword attached to a domain.
This data can be sent to:
- Client reporting portals
- Google Sheets
- Data warehouses
- Business intelligence dashboards
- Internal notification systems
- Custom SEO applications
The documentation includes a complete tutorial for extracting daily rankings and loading them into a warehouse or CSV-based workflow. Access SERP results
Each tracked keyword provides access to its latest parsed search results.
This includes organic results and the SERP features surrounding them. Ranktracker tracks features such as featured snippets, map results, videos, shopping results, People Also Ask results and AI Overviews. Cached SERP HTML is also available for supported tracked keywords. s means you can analyse more than a domain’s numerical ranking.
You can also understand what type of search result is appearing, which competitors surround your listing and which SERP features may be influencing organic click-through rates.
Build share-of-voice reports
The share-of-voice endpoint returns an overall visibility figure, its change over the selected period and a daily series comparing your domain with its tracked competitors.
This data is already structured for charts and reporting. You can use it to create a visibility trend showing whether your brand is gaining or losing ground against competing domains. Organise keywords with tags
Create account-level tags and apply them to keywords across different projects.
Tags can be used to separate:
- Branded and non-branded keywords
- Products and services
- Countries or locations
- Campaigns
- Priority keywords
- Client reporting groups
- Different areas of a website
The API supports bulk tagging, allowing a single tag to be applied to many keywords in one request. Monitor account usage
The account usage endpoint shows how much of your plan has been used and how much capacity remains.
It reports allowances including:
- Active keywords
- Data rows
- On-demand checks
- SERP Analyser credits
Each allowance includes its current usage, total limit and remaining capacity. s is particularly useful before importing a large keyword list. Your integration can check the available capacity first and avoid attempting an import that exceeds the account’s allowance.
Built for Agencies
Agencies are one of the main groups that can benefit from the new API.
A typical automated onboarding workflow could:
- Create the client’s domain.
- Add their competitors.
- Import the target keywords.
- Configure locations, languages and devices.
- Create client-specific tags.
- Send ranking data to an internal dashboard.
- Generate recurring visibility reports.
A process that previously involved multiple manual steps can now be connected to the agency’s own project management or client onboarding system.
Agencies can also pull daily ranking snapshots into their own database and present the information inside a white-label portal.
Built for In-House SEO Teams
In-house teams can connect rankings with wider business data.
For example, keyword performance could be combined with:
- Google Search Console clicks
- Website conversions
- Ecommerce revenue
- Leads generated
- Landing-page performance
- Content publication dates
- Technical SEO releases
This makes it easier to move beyond isolated ranking reports and understand how search visibility contributes to wider business outcomes.
Built for SEO Platforms and Developers
Developers can use Ranktracker as the ranking and SERP data layer behind internal tools or customer-facing applications.
The API follows a consistent REST structure, with all production endpoints using:
https://api.ranktracker.com/v1
Responses use a JSON:API-style format. Resources are returned under data, with their fields inside an attributes object. List endpoints support pagination of up to 1,000 records per page and return total counts through response headers. documentation currently provides working examples for:
- cURL
- Python
- Node.js
It also includes complete tutorials covering domain creation, keyword tracking, data warehouse exports, share-of-voice reporting and bulk keyword tagging.
How to Create Your API Key
Getting started only takes a few steps:
- Sign in to your Ranktracker account.
- Open your account settings.
- Go to the API Keys section.
- Create a new API key.
- Store the key securely on your server.
API keys use the format:
tkn_usr_...
Your key should be passed directly in the Authorization header. It does not require a Bearer prefix. e is a basic request that lists the domains in your account:
A successful request returns the domains owned by the account connected to that key.
API keys should always be treated like passwords. They should not be placed in public repositories, browser code or mobile applications.
Designed for Reliable Automation
The API uses standard HTTP methods and predictable response structures.
It supports:
GETfor retrieving resourcesPOSTfor creating resourcesPATCHfor updating resourcesDELETEfor removing resources
Errors include machine-readable codes and descriptions so integrations can determine whether a request needs correcting, whether an account has reached its allowance or whether a temporary request should be retried. k operations, pagination and usage reporting also help reduce unnecessary requests when managing large projects.
A Brief Note About MCP
Ranktracker also provides an MCP server option for connecting supported AI tools and assistants to Ranktracker data.
